H2H What A Wonderful World Challenge

I love camping in the summer, and when we're not able to camp, we always try to visit family members that are. There is something indescribable about being outdoors in the sunshine, next to a camp fire, and sharing fond memories.

Recipe:
Paper: Jackson, Back Country (retired), Barn Red CS, Colonial White CS (CTMH)
Stamp: Jackson WOTG (CTMH)
Inks: Barn Red, Juniper (CTMH)
Tools: Cricut Artbooking, Glue Pen (CTMH)
Other: Jackson Complements (CTMH)

If we can pass on some of these traditions to our kids, it is our hope that some day they will do the same with the next generation. We are so fortunate to live in the USA, even with its share of flaws. I'm grateful for those that make sacrifices to keep us safe...to enjoy these little moments of happiness with our families. In this spirit, I am entering this layout into the current Heart 2 Heart challenge: What A Wonderful World.

P.S. That picture of Jackson and I was taken by Izzy, who had just turned 5. It was her first time handling the camera, even. Not too shabby; she's a natural.

On to the crafty portion of this post: Did you notice how the title pops? Instead of using foam tape to back it, I cut the title out three times (twice in white cardstock), and layered it with a generous portion of bonding memories glue between each layer. When I laid the top layer down on my paper, it blended right in. It was missing that shadow effect that only layering or foam tape could give. I used Cricut Craft Room to cut my title out, so I could stretch it a bit more to fit the title topper space best. I was even able to weld "the" together so it would match "Great Outdoors".

Thank you for stopping by.

Jackson So This Is What Happened Layout

I'm back this morning with the third layout I created with the Jackson kit and complements. I love the color combo of this paper. Cocoa, Barn Red, Juniper, Glacier, and Colonial White...love it.
Recipe:
Paper: Jackson, Seaside, Juniper CS, Colonial White CS (CTMH)
Tools: Paper-Piercer (CTMH)
Other: Jackson Complements, Oceanside Sequins (CTMH)

If you are a huge Close To My Heart fan (like me), than you may have noticed some Seaside paper mixed in. I used a Cherish template that was perfect with the photos I had already printed out. Most of the time, I scrapbook and than add photos, but I took advantage of a great printing deal, so I had some on hand already.

I have a workshop this afternoon. Hope you all have a happy, crafty day!

Lasting Memories Travel Layout

I'm back today with my 2nd Jackson layout. We haven't been on a "true vacation" since Izzy was a baby, so this is as close as it gets. Last year, Memorial Day weekend, we travelled 4 hours south to a friendly, family-oriented campground, which was precisely half way for our brother-in-law's family to meet up and camp with us...sort of a (mini) Bennett Family Reunion.
Recipe:
Paper: Jackson, Barn Red CS, Cocoa CS, Colonial White CS, Back Country (retired) (CTMH)
Stamp: Jackson WOTG (CTMH)
Inks: Cocoa, Barn Red, Juniper, Glacier (CTMH)
Tools: Paper-Piercer, Micro-Tip Scissors (CTMH)
Other: Brave Enamel Shapes, Jackson Assortment (CTMH)

I would like to enter this into "Lasting Memories: Mystic Mountains" challenge. While southern Michigan, doesn't exactly have mountains, they do have some great forests, allowing for "great outdoors" kind of fun.

As always, hope your day is crafty!

H2H No Foolin Jackson Layout

Good morning. It is supposed to be a beautiful day, today. Lots of sunshine and a high of 62! Woot! Woot!

Recipe:
Paper: Jackson, Glacier CS, Colonial White CS, Juniper CS, Barn Red CS (CTMH)
Stamp: Jackson WOTG (CTMH)
Inks: Cocoa, Glacier, Juniper, Barn Red (CTMH)
Tools: Paper-Piercer, Micro-Tip Scissors, Cricut Artbooking Cartridge (CTMH)
Other: Jackson Assortment, Brave Enamel Shapes (CTMH)

I think my photos are perfect for the "No Foolin' Challenge" at H2H. Last Memorial Day weekend, we travelled about 4 hours south of home to camp at a nice, family-oriented campground with family. Normally, we camp for no more than 4 days, but since we were so far from home, we decided to make it worth our while, and stayed 6 days. These pictures were taken on Memorial Day with Grandpa. The kids love to tease him, and he loves to tease them right back.

I took some close-up shots of the Jackson assortment because I wanted you to see the beautiful details, as well as the size of them. They are about the thickness of a penny, so not high profile. And if you've been following my blog for some time, you may already know that I tend not to use too many thick embellishments.

P.S. That is my very own "Jackson" in the photos. He will tell you that he prefers "Jack" without the "son", and I tease him that he is my son and so we added that part on for good measure.

Have a wonderful weekend! Hope you can get your scrap on! Can you believe it is almost National Scrapbooking Day?!

Brushed Joy Captured Layout

I made this layout a couple of weeks ago but never got around to posting it here. I love how this turned out, and my pictures worked perfectly with the Brushed kit's colors of green, yellow and pink.

Recipe:
Paper: Brushed, Juniper CS, Pixie CS, White Daisy CS, Slate CS (CTMH)
Stamp: Brushed WOTG, It's The Little Things (retired) (CTMH)
Inks: Black, Pixie, Buttercup (retired) (CTMH)
Tools: Craft Tray, Craft Heater, Clear Detail Embossing Powder, Sponges, Journal Pen, Micro-Tip Scissors, Cricut Artbooking Cartridge (CTMH)
Other: Topiary Washi Tape, Foam Tape (CTMH)

These pictures are from 3 years ago. Hard to believe my little girl will be 7 in just a month.

Happy crafting!
