Footloose Summer Layout

Here is another layout that I made a few years back but never put pictures on...until now.

I still have scraps of Footloose in my collection. This layout was totally inspired by one of our idea books.

I had always pictured this being strictly for beach photos, but I couldn't resist these fun photos I took with my new camera back in August. AND I did get one beach photo on it. :)

Hope you are having a fantastic day. It is sunny and 66 here today. Two beautiful days in a row. What a blessing!

Have a great week.

Sangria Thankful Heart Layout

Good morning. The weather man is calling for 70 degrees here today. It has not been unusual to have snow this time of year. Yesterday, we went on a Fall photo shoot. I got some amazing photos, and one is totally school picture worthy. I am loving my new camera.

I had almost 2 full sheets of Sangria paper left to work with after creating the other 4 layouts. I really love the rich colors of eggplant and pomegranate. I paired them here with colonial white and chocolate.

Recipe:
Paper: Sangria, Colonial White, Chocolate (CTMH)
Stamps: Friend Tree, Pathfinding WOTG (While Supplies Last) (CTMH)
Inks: Pomegranate, Poppy, Fern, Honey, Goldrush, Chocolate (CTMH)
Tools: Gold Metallic Marker, Non-Stick Micro-Tip Scissors, Paper-Piercer (CTMH)
Other: Poppy Twine, Gold Sequins, Thin 3d Foam Tape (CTMH)

Do you have a favorite Fall tradition? I'd love to hear about it.

Enjoy your Sunday.

Sangria Happy Day Layout

Do you ever create a layout and then go back to it the next day (haha, in the light of day) and think something just isn't right? If you do, than you can commiserate with me on my next layout.
Before
After
Recipe:
Paper: Sangria, Champagne CS, Colonial White CS, Pomegranate CS, Eggplant CS (CTMH)
Stamps: Friend Tree, Hello Life - Scrapbooking, Zoe WOTG (CTMH)
Inks: Poppy, Pomegranate, Eggplant, Honey, Goldrush, Fern, Champagne (CTMH)
Tools: Paper-Piercer, Non-Stick Micro-Tip Scissors, Stitch Ruler (CTMH)
Other: Thin 3d Foam Tape, Pink Enamel Gems, White Embroidery Floss (CTMH)

Don't get me wrong; the tags are cute. But with them added (following sketch), it no longer felt visually balanced with the left page (hip to be square). So after pondering it for a while and asking advice from my consultant team, I decided to ditch the tags, and move the camera cluster to the lower right corner of the photo group. This helped to draw attention to the beautiful photos, and I was able to add more heartfelt journalling to my layout, as well.

The purple bases and fab. photos help to make this layout one of my new favorites.

Thank you for stopping by today. We are getting ready to go on a Fall Photo Shoot. Hope the kids will smile.

Sangria What Makes Me Smile Layout

Here's another twist on Sangria. I didn't realize until this layout was finished that I was channeling an inspiration piece made with Basic Grey's Persimmon kit.

Recipe:
Paper: Sangria, Outdoor Denim CS (retired), Glacier Blue CS, Colonial White CS (CTMH)
Stamps: Friend Tree, Zoe WOTG (CTMH)
Inks: Honey, Goldrush, Poppy, Pomegranate, Outdoor Denim (retired), Cocoa (CTMH)
Tools: Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge, Non-Stick Micro-Tip Scissors, Paper-Piercer (CTMH)
Other: Claire Complements (Clearance), Gold Shimmer Trim, Gold Sequins, Poppy Twine, White Embroidery Floss, Thin 3d Foam Tape (CTMH)

I had finished attaching photos, stamping, stitching and assembly and tried to decide what title I might use. After studying it for a few minutes, I realized that I had some Claire complements in my stash that I'd never used. The red was a pretty close match to my son's hoodie, and inspiration struck. Why not? It so happens that these complements are still available in the Clearance section of my website. However, this sketch is a fabulous one, and you may choose to steer it more in the direction of the true Sangria colors. While this layout is attended to go into my daughter's album, this could easily have been used for my son's album, too. Sangria's not just for girls!

The large photo is 6x8. What if you don't print out large photos? Well, you could either photo mat a 5x7 photo, or place (2) 4x4 photos side by side and add either a title box or a journal box directly below your photos. You could also do the same (4) 3x3 block and 4x6 photo on the opposite page, too. It just happened that I had already printed a large 8x10 of my favorite picture from this photo shoot. Yes, photography, scrapbooking and children are the things that make me smile. :)

Hope I have inspired you to see Sangria in a whole new way. Tomorrow, I will be sharing a more traditional color combo (purple!) with Sangria.

Have a great day!

Sangria Ready Set Go Layout

As I stated yesterday, I thought outside the box with Sangria.

It has been said that I tend to purchase clothing to match current scrapbook paper lines. LOL It's true; I do. But it also helps that Close To My Heart is always on trend.

Recipe:
Paper: Sangria, Poppy CS, Colonial White CS, Glacier CS, Outdoor Denim CS (retired) (CTMH) Ahoy There (Carta Bella)
Stamps: Friend Tree, Chalk It Up WOTG (retired), School is Here (retired) (CTMH)
Inks: Outdoor Denim (retired), Eggplant, Poppy, Glacier (CTMH)
Tools: Paper-Piercer, Micro-Tip Scissors, Journal Pen, 2" Scallop Circle Punch (retired), Cricut Artbooking Cartridge (CTMH)
Other: Gold Shimmer Trim, Outdoor Denim Brads (retired), Poppy Twine, Glue Dots, Thin 3d Foam Tape (CTMH)

I really wanted to represent who my daughter is now, but if you change out the apple die cut and maybe the crayon images, I think this would still work well for any age group.

When she came home from school that day, I asked her how her day went. "We did math and reading. It was boring." The following day, she told me how she was trying to sleep in class and the teacher called on her. "Can you believe they don't let us take naps?" By the way, she is now in second grade. LOL

By the way, the red in my daughter's dress is called "Poppy". No kidding.

I hope you like it. And if you didn't like Sangria because of the purple, maybe this will have you looking at it in a whole new light (wait, somebody out there doesn't like purple?). Teehee.

Sangria Family Layout

I am so excited to begin sharing my Sangria artwork with you. I've been working on it for two weeks now trying to get everything just right. I will warn you now that I thought outside the box a little with this kit. It helped that I had pictures already printed.

Recipe:
Paper: Sangria, Colonial White CS, Cocoa CS, Purple Glitter CS (CTMH)
Stamp: Sangria WOTG (CTMH)
Inks: Pomegranate, Eggplant, Fern, Cocoa (CTMH)
Tools: Paper-Piercer, Micro-Tip Scissors, Sponge (CTMH)
Other: Thin 3d Foam Tape, Gold Sequins, Pink Enamel Gems, Thistle Twine (CTMH)

As you may have noticed, I changed up the main layout a bit. I didn't like how dark the stamping was, and I don't mind fussy cutting. My little girl is too vibrant a personality to use dark tones when papercrafting. I also added purple glitter cardstock for a fun shimmer.

I have to stop for a minute and tell you how much I am loving our new color palette. Eggplant and Pomegranate are way prettier in person.

Anyways, a quick story behind the photos. We visited family that was camping during a trick or treat weekend recently. So these photos represent that time. Pumpkins and leaves would be a cute addition to this layout in place of flowers. Oh, and I realized after taking the picture that I forgot to add my journalling. Will have to do that. :)

Thank you for stopping by today. I will have more Sangria artwork to share with you soon.

A blast from the past

I became a consultant back in May of 2011. Hard to believe it's been four years.

This next layout was actually created at my second scrapbook workshop that summer. I used the Lucky paper collection that came in my consultant kit.

Four years ago, my son was only five. So this beautiful layout sat in a protective plastic bin along with others awaiting photos. Back in August, we went on our only camping trip of the season, a first for our puppy. I started scrolling through my photos and remembered I had the perfect layout already. Yes!

Funny, that it wasn't until I was putting pictures on this that I realized we had previously ventured into picture my life. This layout is still one of my all time favorites. I finally learned how to heat emboss with this project. Happy memories.

Do you have any layouts sitting in your collection waiting for photos? Now's the time to take a second look. Have a great day!

Zoe Me and You Layout

Here's the last layout I've created to date using the fabulous Zoe kit. And again, I must thank Tina Lovell of My Scrap Happy Life for her inspiration and generosity in sharing.

Recipe:
Paper: Zoe, Slate CS, Glacier CS, Honey CS, White Daisy CS (CTMH)
Tools: Glue Pen, Journal Pen, Paper-Piercer, Micro-Tip Scissors (CTMH)
Other: Zoe Complements, Green Triangle Enamel Dots (CTMH)

Isn't it the cutest? I was amazed at how nice the complements clustered on this layout. I spent way more time trying to get this one just right. I am forever trying to use up all of those cute complements.

Thanks for stopping by. Hope your day is crafty!

Zoe Days of the Week Layout

My next layout was inspired by Tina Lovell of My Scrap Happy Life blog. Thank you, Tina, for being so generous in sharing your artwork and cutting guides with your fellow consultants. I blended Tina's layout with that of Paige Dolecki's. The scraps I had left from making my previous layouts was perfect for this one.

Recipe:
Paper: Zoe, Sorbet CS, Glacier CS, White Daisy CS, Whisper CS (CTMH)
Stamp: Zoe WOTG (CTMH)
Ink: Glacier (CTMH)
Tools: Glue Pen, Journal Pen, Micro-Tip Scissors (CTMH)
Other: Zoe Complements (CTMH)

I know people have been wondering what to adhere the new vellum complements with, and I'd have to say pretty much any adhesive medium you like. I used my glue pen for this layout, but have also used my EZ Dots adhesive and glue dots, too.

Until I add my photos, I will leave the title off, but was thinking of something like "I love you more every day of the week." or somesuch. If you have a clever title option, please feel free to share.

Thank you for stopping by. Have a great day.
